Hi Guys
Hoping someone can help me with a SSD question: My old HDD is on its final legs it seems so I am thinking of getting a SSD and copying over my old drive with OS- win7 pro X64.
My board is Asus Maximus V Formula Z77 so I am a bit nervous about whats going to work as I will be using it as my main drive with the OS on it. CPU is i7-3770K
1. The manual states that I have 2 SATA 6.0 GB/S connectors so I am assuming I can install something like a Samsung 840 pro without any additional pieces/adapters using a SATA cable?
2. I also wanted to find out if I could install something like a Samsung 950 pro in one of the spare PCIE slots using an adapter and it would work as my main disk? I have a pcie x8/x4 free. I understand that I will need an adapter for the connection but not sure if the chipset would support Nvme..
Anyone have any experience with either 1 or/and 2 ? what would be the better option and what would be the recommended way to go?
thanks in advance.
