Personally ive used both types and I will say I prefer the larger air coolers over the AIO coolers since they seem to be quieter and cool just as effective. AIO are decent if your lacking space around your CPU (tall RAM/or GPU w'AIOs) or like myself you got a really good deal on one (got my H100i for $40 from a friend).
