5 fps gta5

when I log into GTA 5 story mode or online I can only get 1-5 fps I'm not having this issue with any other game. I have tried changing all graphics settings and reinstalling twice I have updated my drivers also.
specs
GeForce GTX 970
Intel Core i7-4790 Cpu @ 3.60 GHz
16 GB ram
Windows 10
I would appreciate any advice thank you.

Check your computer to make sure all internal parts are plugged in, also its possible that a part may have failed

If you say that all the other games you run on your computer are running smooth, then maybe you have tinkered with something in the softwares that you did not remember you did and it is only affecting GTA V... Try starting gta v in safe mode and see if you still get 1-5 fps.

I got a new motherboard on Christmas could that be a problem i think it worked with my other motherboard but i cant remember

Do you have 1-5 fps in the menu too or only in-game?
Do you get 1-5 fps after some time or right when you open the game?
Are you sure you plugged your monitor to the graphics card and not to the motherboard?

I get 63 fps in the menu, only 1-5 in game right away, and my monitor is plugged straight into the graphics card. I can run dying light at 60 frames on ultra at 1080 so it is only happening in gta 5.

Then it's definitively your 4th gen i7 that is bottlenecking your graphics card, because gta v is a very cpu intensive game. jk

But seriously, i'm running out of solutions for you. What I would try is to use DDU to clear all GPU drivers and redownload+reinstall the latest nvidia driver for your graphics card.

i got a new ssd and put gta on it and it works fine now it must have been a driver on my old hdd thankyou for all the help and for making me freak out about my cpu lol.

I have the exact same problem, did you just uninstall gta5 and reinstalled it on the new ssd? Or did you just carry it over?
