Hey everyone, I am new here.

So I love media, I download everything and have several hard drives (14 external 2tb western digital hard drives). I have over 2,000 movies, 100 tv shows (from the first season to the most recent or last season), thousands of comics, a few hundred books, and etc.

What I would like to do is build a wireless server/file hub. I've never done anything of the sort and not sure where to begin.

Here is what I have:
A Panasonic Toughbook Laptop and 14 external hard drives.

What I want to do:
1. Be able to stream my content to my devices (other computers and phones/tablets) in the house
2. Be able to take files from the server/hub and put them on my devices (And vice-versa - be able to send files to the server/hub)

Where do I start?

A server should not be connected to your home network wirelessly. That doubles the amount of data your wireless bandwidth has to carry. You should connect the server to your router via ethernet.

A laptop is a poor choice for a server. It doesn't have the ports to do the job. With 30TB of (questionably acquired) data, you will need more hardware than you have.
