I downloaded 'world of Tanks' last night and began to play the game about an hour ago (18.30 Tuesday) but about 5 min's into the game my fuse in the plug blew, everything else is ok (Monitor, printer, lights, etc), Just my PC wont fire up. I downloaded from 'The World of Tanks' web site so I'm hoping it is just coincidence, or has this game fried my ATX PSU (model 500 CB) with a virus. I'm guessing (hoping) that the PSU is the only problem.

ADD ON

Wattage of the PSU is/was 500w with an on/off switch above, originally the fuse was 3 amp but i have tried a 5 amp but all fuses blew the moment I plugged to power lead in. As for spec's there supposed to be Core 2 Duo 2.7GHz / ATI HD4870 / 640GB HDD /4GB 800RAM the case I don't know about but it's a full tower if that help's and after checking, I downloaded the world of tanks from 'Wargaming.net NOT what I thought. Oh I should tell you all I am a 61 year old gamer (of sorts) with the big 'C'.
Loads of thanks for your reply's as off last night

well good news is I have never heard of a power supply getting a virus, I don't think it can actually. I'm fairly certain it was a coincidence.
is this your power supply?:

I doubt it. you said ATX if you have a standard ATX case and power supply. the power supply will look like this:

if it is the latter any standard ATX power supply of the right wattage will work. I suggest at least a tier 3 from this list, higher if your budget can allow.

The ATX standard ensures they are all the same dimensions.

Good news and Bad news.

The Good news first, your PSU is not capable of getting a virus.

The Bad news, the power supply is likely destroyed beyond repair. I don't know where you live so here are some choices in replacement power supplies you can consider. Anything from Seasonic, XFX or the EVGA SuperNova line of power supplies are worth buying and come with good warranties and good reputations.

If none of those units are available in your market I suggest reading this forum entry hosted on tomshardware forums:

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

You want ideally a Tier-1 PSU, I know the prices are very high for those and so Tier-2 is also very good. If your budget is more limited a Tier-3 unit is ok but less advisable. Do not get a Tier-4 or Tier-5 unit.

I personally use the Seasonic S12ii 520W power supply.

UPDATE:

If you do in fact own a Dell DPS-500CB then your options are limited to buying the same unit again that the previous poster linked to.
