Hello guys,

I am on a dilema here and I would need the help or advice of any of you who had more experience than me on this matter, hopefully.

We recently bought a new SSD disk for a server we own as we were running out of space. The server has a RAID 5 configuration

After adding the new disk to the array, windows recognized this extra space as Unallocated space (everything normal here I guess).

The problem comes when I tried to add this unallocated space to the partition D, which is where we store all the sensible data we have in this server. We need to expand this partition, but Windows 2012 Disk Management tool is quite limited and do not allow this for whatever reason.

I can't even create a new drive E, for example, because it says that the disk cannot contain any more partitions.

So basically I see two risky options:
1- Convert this to Dynamic Disk (I have no idea of the consequences of this)

2- Buy a more advanced software like AOMEI to solve this issue and risking loosing all the partition if I make a mistake (and not even being sure that this software will be able to do it, as the demo version does not make any real changes).

What would you do? What can you suggest to me to do? I am really stuck here!!

Thanks in advance.

Well, due to the lack of information on this matter and the complexity that it may involve doing it using Dell tools (believe me, I tried), I opted out for buying AOMEI software for W2012 server. It did it really fast, probably it executed some command in the background that did the thing. No loss of data had happened and no need for reboot either. Fantastic.
