I have an old HP Pavilion zt 3340us that I recently reinstalled Windows XP SP2 and then upgraded to SP3.
The first issue is that the Intel ProSet 2200BG will not see any wireless networks. I've tried to install several different drivers but it seems to always want to install just the 2200BG driver and when I try to manually install a driver, it says the best driver is already installed. I've tried winsockxp fix, I've tried letting Windows manage it and the ProSet software manage it, I've tried changing the channel on the adapter as well as other settings. I've tried reseating the card and making sure the antenna cables are plugged in correctly. I'm at the point where I'm about to just tell the customer to get a wireless usb dongle.
The next issue is that the Realtek 3189 adapter is proving very unreliable. When wired into the router, it'll work for a while, then the latency on the pings to the gateway (local router) start going from less than 1ms to 2000-3000ms then eventually dropping to the point where you have to disable the adapter then enable it.
I'm stuck here. Any help would be appreciated.
