So currently i have a 6700k processor, i'm in no need of an upgrade right now obviously but i've thought about the 5960x as an possible buy but on another note, there's a new cpu lineup called cannon lake coming 2017. What should i do wait or buy the 5960x? I'm not exactly gonna use the computer alot outside of gaming but i will be streaming and gaming and editing and so on so i thought an all around cpu is probably better than one made fore gaming only. I guess the quick answer i'm looking for is, is there gonna be a new cpu better than the 5960x and 6700k releasing anywhere soon?

I cannot express how much of a waste of money a 5960x is for gaming, It wont leverage those cores. I would say on average the 6700k would perform the same or better if you overclock it I know the 6700k will overclock higher than a 5960x. A 5960x might be useful for heavy rendering and editing but absolutly not gaming.
