Clicking and grinding noise motherboard

I have an issue with a sound my motherboard is making during general computation. I've recorded a sound clip of it. You can distinctly hear the sounds of my mouse clicking, and scrolling, and my keyboard key presses, as well as my CPU fan and exhaust fan whir. The noise I am particularly trying to pinpoint is the grinding noise that happens every so often. I have no hard disk drives installed, and no graphics card either. Just the cpu exhaust fans, and the SSD. I ruled the SSD out after listening to it next to my ear and carefully listening to the fans as well.It sounds almost like a hard drive scanning for data but I do not have a hard disc installed and there is not a compact disc drive either. Only rotating parts are the fan. Can anyone point me in the direction as to what this may be?

My build:

Holly2 (AAHD2-HY mobo)
AMD A4-3420 APU with Radeon (tm) HD Graphics 2.80GHz ((original oem clock speeds)),
OEM fans,
1 stick DDR3 2 GB Kingston ram,
1 stick DDR3 4 GB kingston ram((unsure of specific make))
BFG 550Watt GXPSU,
Samsung 120GB solid state flash drive.

Interface devices include

Logitech HD 1080p czt camera (what i recorded the audio with)
Dell KB212-B keyboard
Logitech m100 mouse

This is all being driven by AMD catalyst control center, holly2 most current bios drivers, and windows 8.1 mostly stock except classic shell for start menu.

Link to audio recording of described sound (sound can be caused by scrolling and typing, or watching videos so please ignore the general user sounds and focus on the strange grinding noise that happens a few times in the clip)

Again, I may not be posting this to the proper forum but I didn't know if this should go under mobo or components.

Solution
From what you stated it could be coming from the PSU because the load on the CPU increases with the types of activities you are doing, and thereby increases the load on the PSU.

There is not a HDD connected nor a Disc reader. The only moving parts in the PC are the CPU fan, and the exhaust fan. I've listened carefully to them and unplugged them to make sure they are not the culprit. I've gone back and annotated the audio clip with notes pointing out where the noises are I speak of

The sound seems most intense when preforming actions, though it can be heard while idling as well. it's the most intense when scrolling through large portions of text in IM clients, scrolling through web pages, gaming, and watching videos of any format whether on a web player or local media content.

You are 100% spot on, turned out to be the PSU. I dare not guess what was faulty but am getting RMA.
