I have a HP 5550dn printer that will only print docs and images in black and white when I try to print files from my desktop.

The desktop's current OS is Win 10, but was also having this issue when it was running Win 8.1. I have check the print properties in each program and the settings are set to color.

I also have a notebook that is running Win 8. When I print from the notebook the files do print in color.

The printer is connected to my network router via LAN cable. This allows me to print wirelessly from my notebook and using the network cable for my desktop. All print drivers are up to date.

Any ideas to what could be causing this issue?

Does the black and white printing happen for all applications, screen prints, etc.?

What software are you printing the files from?

Does that application have some draft/ink saver mode setting that is overriding the printer properties color setting?

Also check your printer choices. Very easy to end up with duplicate printer(s)/ configurations where you think printer output is going to the one printer configured via printer properties for color. However, the output is going to the same physical printer via another older installation that remains black and white.

Double check the active/default printer selection.
