I was thinking if you don't use steam how are you going to play online gameplay if you don't have a account connect to the game?

I don't know about other ppl but almost all my games (besides MMO's) are on Steam. Some games like BF4 work directly through EA which is Origin and for Ubisoft there is UPLAY which will boot on a Ubisoft game through Steam (IE: Assassins Creed Series).

Did you read that note I posted from wikipedia? 75% of downloaded games are through Steam. Steam has 125 million users.

those sites sell STEAM keys. To actually use any game you buy off those sites you still have to load up steam and punch in the key to download your game. Some are legit others are pretty much illegal and you run the risk of buying a useless key from them.

The three major PC gaming portals in order of most users are Steam, Origin, and GOG. Whoever said Steam is "dead" is not someone you need to be asking about any advice for gaming. Sounds to me like they just grew up playing consoles and definitely do not PC game.
