Community Ideas on a New Software/App!?

Hi everyone, I am the head of a small but savvy development team! We are looking to get our name out there and would love to know what the community is looking for! This can be anything from an app for a smart phone to a program for a computer. We are looking for something not to large but not to small either, we are all up for a challenge and would love input from the community. The reason behind this post is based on the original post by Linus Torvalds who developed the Linux kernel over 20 years ago. So yes this software/app will be open source and we will take improvements from the community, review them and directly implement them. We are looking for something that will be the next thing and we really cant do that without your support! I have made a google forum for people to submit there ideas, please try to be as detailed as you can. We strive to develop for the community, with the community in mind and would love to hear everyone's ideas as well as betterment's that can be implemented to the program/app after it is developed. After the program/app is developed I will create another google forum for everyone to submit ideas to add and we will be sure to keep everyone up to date with the development process! As stated in the explanation we are trying to make a name for our self, previous things we developed didn't do to well just because there wasn't a market for them. We need you the community to help us make something great. I understand your time in valuable and we appreciate it!

As @McHenryB mentioned, knowing your strengths might help "the community" give you an idea.
- You want to make next Faceboot / Instagram? (web application)
- You want to make next Halo / WoF / GTA (game development)
- You want to make next LibreOffice / WinZip / WinRAR? (app development)
- You want to make next Pebble Watch / Raspberry Pi? (IoT development)
- ect ect ect

I doubt your team is "good" at all of them...

We are strong in web development, but we would need a strong idea for the next Facebook/Instagram. Not game development, App development we are strong. Not IoT development. So yes to web applications, phone applications and computer applications.

If you are aiming at the level of Facebook you intend to make a lot of money. What recompense scheme are you offering for those who provide you with ideas? A flat fee, royalties, equity in your company? I'm not going to give you my brilliant ideas for nothing.
