I have an older Toshiba satellite A105 -S4284 laptop. I've seen in the link below that someone had success upgrading the CPU previously. Why do this to a 10year old computer....b/c I think it would be fun .
What I want to ensure is that I can properly update my BIOS. I ran CPU-Z and see that I have an intel i945GM chipset and T2050 CPU. The i945GM chipset is compatible with the T7600 processor I just bought. What I want to ensure before taking the next step of upgrading the BIOS is that I actually have the right BIOS from Toshiba Satellite support page.
CPU-Z says I have the Phoenix Technologies LTD BIOS Version 2.0. The BIOS update available from the Toshiba website is for my model number listed above is ACPI Flash BIOS version 6.0. Is this the right BIOS even though CPU-Z says I have a Phoenix technologies BIOS?....I guess what I'm asking is that were all BIOS made for the toshiba satellite from Phoenix?
Additionally does anyone know a cheap/easy way to back up a BIOS?
Thanks!!
