AMD ram question

I'm building a budget AMD rig for my son.
I'm trying to go all AMD with this build.
I'm using an AMD 8350 and a MSI 970 motherboard.

The ram I want to use is the AMD R9 gamer series ram, but it says it was made for the A10 APU.
Radeon R9 Gamer Series memory is tested and certified for AMD A10 APUs enabling speeds up to 2400MHz+.
Just wondering ram will be compatible with the 8350?
This is my second build and my first AMD build.

Solution
Usually the testing and certification just means AMD guarantees it to work with an APU, not that it won't work with anything else. You can definitely use that RAM; the trick is getting it to run at its max speed. I highly doubt you can actually run the RAM at 2400MHz without the system refusing to boot or locking up on you. If you want to be 100% safe, you can check the QVL of your particular motherboard to see if there's any AMD-branded RAM on there and get that; otherwise, see how fast MSI says you can OC the RAM with the board. If it says 2400(OC)/2133(OC)/1866/1600... you'll most likely be fine (assuming you get a good 8350), but if it's more like 2133(OC)/1866/1600... you'll be underclocking the RAM, which isn't a huge deal; it's...

The 8350 officially supports up to 1866MHz RAM, so bear that in mind if you get a faster kit. BTW, which MSI motherboard do you have specifically? That might help narrow down your options.

According to AMD ;) it supports 'UP TO 1866' with 1 stick per channel.....the FX CPU's acccording to AMDs own BIOS and Kernal Developers Guide indicate the FX CPUs have a native 1333 MC (memory controller)....many of the upper end (silicon lottery) can handle 2133 and a few 2400

Yeah, I found lots of cheaper ram that'll work, but like I said earlier, I want to use as much AMD parts as possible.

So far I got amd cpu, amd gpu, amd ssd, and amd ram.

The DRAM isn't going to matter, and actually can do much better performance wise, I lean to GSkill's Snipers and Ripjaws X for AMD builds - the AMD sticks are made by Vision Tek and Patriort, based on their normal models and have the AMP profile added
