Best Closed Loop Liquid Cooler with 120mm or 140mm radiator?

Solution

For some reason I was thinking dual-fan, not single fan. When you go down to a single fan, it has to work harder to cool at the same level (more noise). However, if you are keeping it stock you can get buy with the H80i GT or Kraken X41 competitor single fan radiator. Here's an example of the 80i GT against older Corsair and Kraken variants in low RPM (silent) mode at idle:

Now if you want to think about overclocking down the road, the H80i GT will be louder than a dual-fan setup. But you may be able to find a good balance between a mild overclock and noise.

i would like to overclock my cpu to atleast 4.5 and I yes fan noise is a concern. I will be putting the radiator as my exhaust.

Okay well unfortunately, you will need to make some compromises and sacrifices between the three: space, cooling performance, and noise. First, the noise of a large air cooler is similar to a high end closed loop cooler at load when the water cooler is in the same temperature (read: silent mode) comparisons and not overclocked.

However, a closed loop cooler with a 120-140mm dual-fan radiator (like the Kraken X61, Corsair 100-series, and the CM Nepton) will be much louder than a top tier air cooler under overclock load.
Then of course, a high end air cooler is a monster in space needs. Long story short, you aren't going to get a quiet system with a bunch of internal space and overclocking a Skylake to 4.5GHz.

What if I were to leave my Overclock at 4 GHz and get a low noise closed loop? I will be getting the Define R5 which is great at silencing noise, but would also like lots of space for my gpu to lets lots of cool air, and of course the cpu cooler wont be in the way.

Well then if you do that, you remove the concession of overclocking, then noise will be good to go! I'm not familiar with the CM's cooler that was mentioned, but I do know the Corsair H110 series and X61 both have silent options to keep fan speed down while under load in normal factory speed clocks.

The H110 is a dual fan radiator. I was thinking a 1 fan radiator, like the Corsair H80i GT or something like that.
