Sony Vegas 13 Render i7 4790k VS Gtx 980?

cuz im currently sitting at a 2 hour render time for a 29 minute video which i think is odd? Thanks

I have Vegas 11 and set it up to render through my CPU. I have a slower CPU than you do (although it closes the gap when overclocked to 4.7GHz in rendering), and it never takes a 1:4 rendering time ratio for video in typical 1080p formats even at 60FPS.
Sounds like you have something else going on. How long have you been using Vegas 13 and what file format(s) are you rendering to?

GPU's are generally much faster than CPU's at rendering as that is what they are designed to do.
So if you ask about video rendering, a GPU should be faster at it 90% of the time.
EditIt also depends on the program. Vegas, I believe, has an option to make the program GPU accelerated. Meaning your 980 is faster than your CPU if you are rendering with Vegas with that option on.
If you ever decide to switch to Adobe Pr, a Powerful CPU is bound to be faster.

Sorry, but that is not true for newer Nvidia cards with Sony Vegas (but it is true for AMD cards). Vegas or Movie 13 only respond to the CUDA cores of Fermi (5xx) or older cards. There is no performance increase by going GPU over CPU if you have a Kepler or Maxwell GPU with Vegas or Movie.
Sony chose not to support Nvidia's newer CUDA architecture and instead push OpenCL/GL. This is all well documented out there.
