I already got one 4GB DDR3 Ram installed in DDR3_3 slot, Because it's hard to insert the Ram in DDR3_1 slot. I had my Ram in DDR3_3 slot for 3 years, now I'm going to buy the exact model and have a Dual channel memory (4GBx2) So can I use DDR3_3 and DDR3_4 slots for that instead of using DDR3_1 and DDR3_2 slots? But in the motherboard manual it statesfor optimum performance when enabling dual channel mode with 2 modules we recommend that to install them in DDR3_1 and DDR3_2 sockets.

MB - Gigabyte GA-H77-DS3H
Ram - G.skill 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz x 2

Solution

You can install the memory in either the blue slots or the white slots and still run dual channel mode.
