I have a six core AMD FX(tm)-6300 Six-Core processor but when I open task manager it says I only have 3 cores. Is this what it should be saying or is something wrong and if something is wrong how do I fix it.

(What my task manager says)

Solution
Your task manager is addressing the FX modules as cores, so its only reading 3.
Since it lists 6 threads, you should be fine.

You're all good. Its technically a 3 core processor with 6 threads. That cpu is called 6 cores, but its just advertising. See this link about hyper-threading.
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/hyperthreading-technology-explained/

hyperthreading is for intel and smt is for amd, but they're almost the same thing.

AMDs module method is closer to 2 physical cores than hyperthreading is, but they accomplish the same task.
That article has some dated info in it (Reported 30% increased performance, Hyperthreading is more powerful than that now) but it stands more or less.
