He can use it as a physx's Card. But it will have no benefit.

What is the name of the PSU brand etc.. What PC case are you using. The Asus strix is a "long" Card.

Thanks for the quick response.

- I have the same Hp workstation Z420 as this one in the link below.
http://www.added-dimension.co.uk/ExpertNotes/2012/HP/Desktops/WM434EA.htm
- about the UPS i have 'Delta Electronics' model 'DPS-600UB A' the same as this in this pdf i think.
http://www.plugloadsolutions.com/psu_reports/DELTA%20ELECTRONICS_DPS-600UB%20A_ECOS%202619_600W_Report.pdf

First let's forget about the Quadro k2000 2Gb. Is this UPS enough to run the others components (Asus GTX980 Ti , E5 Xeon 1620 3,6GHz , etc...)

The Quadro k2000 is realy helpfull for my work (modeling on 3ds max and working on detailed plans on autocad).I know i can't run them in SLI, but can I have two installed and switch between them or something?

We where talking about a dedicated physx Card. But I would not recommend it with a low tier graphic Card.

ok i'll not keep the old Card ... So my PSU* :) is enough to run the ASUS strix 980ti (Max power: 378watts) , the Xeon E5 1620 3.6Ghz (Max Power: 180watts) and the others components?

In theory its got enough power - in the real world though its a multi rail unit & I'm fairly certain doesn't have 2x 8 pin PCI express connectors ( you will have to check)
Personally if spending all that money on a 980ti I'd replace the PSU as well.

nice remark ... yeah this PSU don't have 2x 8pin PCI express connectors , it got just 2x6 pin.. that means no GTX 980TI XD?
i can't buy another PSU i'll have 0 money in my wallet after buying this card :D.

Yeah mate I think it HAS to be a PSU replacement for a 980ti to be safe - I honestly couldn't recommend using any kind of adapters as that Delta is a split rail unit - it would honestly be asking for trouble IMO.

Thought about a 970?? That'll run on that unit fine & is still a great gaming card.

okay i give up from buying a gtx 980.
I just did a little search about the GTX 970 and i found those 3 good ones:
- Asus STRIX-GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5 have 1x 8pin pci-e
- Msi GTX 970 GAMING 4G have 1x 6pin and 1x 8pin pci-e
- Gigabyte GV-N970G1 GAMING-4GD have 1x6pin and 1x8pin pci-e

can one of them work on my workstation fine?

out of those the asus strix, your psu has 2 x6 pin connectors Im sure??
You will need a twin 6 pin to 8 pin connector which is absolutely fine to use ( be sure its a 2x 6 pin to single 8 pin) - you have split psu rails& one of these will do the job properly.

failing that there are a few models that do have 2x6 pin connections ,the zotac model springs to mind there.

i guess 500 is not enough of course
- i have another Question. can the the board and PSU handle a custom GTX970 ?and if yes can i (next year maybe) change the PSU and add another GTX 970 SLI?

Thanks all for the responses.

the board will be compatible.
the psu should be ok with any 970.

sli gtx 970 is pretty inferior to a single 980 ti. i'd say if you could afford a 980 ti originally, why wouldn't you want to just save another 60-80 bux to get a good quality psu? seems silly to me.

you should
1) bite the bullet and buy a 980 ti with a better psu
2) buy a standard, (non ti) 980 so you can afford a better psu now. if you want to add a second later buy a good 850w+. problem is you'll still be stuck with 4gb vram rather than 6gb on the ti version. sli does not add additional vram. your motherboard probably support sli.
UPDATE:
3) buy a good 650w+ psu and a single r9 390 with 8gb vram. solves the above problem. if you want to crossfire the r9 390 down the road, buy a good 1100w+ psu. your motherboard also probably won't support crossfire.

changing a motherboard would require the purchase of an operating system if it came on the workstation when you purchased it.

I with nerd on the above in all honesty - Im not sure your board has the bandwidth to support a 970 sli setup in the future .

Thanks Man for the solution :D .. even if i don't get how the pci-e work.

good point, the board probably won't be able to handle sli or crossfire. forgot he is using an hp workstation since this is a few days old. updated that on my other post. thanks.

thats the wrong cable im recommending :-/ was on mobile before, what country are you in & where are you buying from??
