Upgrading 2-year-old desktop- do I need to upgrade my PSU?

Hi guys,

I'm planning on upgrading my desktop. New case, CPU cooler to replace the current stock one I have and a SSD to chuck Windows on.

However, I realised when doing research tonight that my PSU might not be of a high-enough wattage- I got a friend to help me build it this time 2 years ago as I didn't know much about hardware then and I'm starting to realise that was a bad idea... (Mini-tower for a gaming computer? Really?)

These are my current specs:

CPU: Intel i7 4770 @ 3.4 GHz
GPU: EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 (4GB, rather than the standard 2GB)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87M-D3H
PSU: Corsair CX 500M

Plus other misc. peripherals, harddrive etc (I can get specs for that if necessary but I'm not sure it's relevant).

Basically, should I be upgrading my PSU as well? I was reading through the GTX 770's specs on the Nvidia website and it says the minimum system power should be 600W, but obviously my current PSU only provides 500W...

Thanks, I'm checking it out now! The main problem though is I have a very limited budget so I don't want to upgrade the PSU unless I have to... will staying with my CX500M risk damaging my other hardware? Or limit their effectiveness?

That's true, CX PSUs aren't any good, but still I think you are safe, if you want upgrade then I would go for Seasonic, Evga or Be Quiet! in my opinion.
