If you want to buy an i3 Skylake for gaming, it's worth ONLY if you also buy DDR4 2666 or higher. Only then you'll see the true improvement of Skylake. Otherwise, if you get DDR4 2400 or 2133, the i3 won't be any faster than cheaper i3 Haswell based CPUs.
