Low fps with a 970

I bought my pc 2 months ago and I've been playing games like rust, csgo, skyrim and league of legends on max setting without any problems but yesterday when I tried to play a league game my fps went down to 20 and the loading screen that normally takes me like 15 seconds to load lasted for about 2 minutes and since that my pc works very bad and I want to know if the problem is the gpu or the cpu or what.
Pc specs:
gpu: gtx 970 gigabyte windforce gaming g1
cpu: i5 4460
motherboard: gigabyte z97p-d3
ram:G.Skill Ripjaws 2x4gb
ssd: samsung 850 evo 250gb

Did you update your drivers? Last time you restarted? Check your temps

Yes, I updated the drivers yesterday.

did the problem start after updating the driver?

if so roll the driver back and see if that cures it

if it doesnt open task manager and check nothing in the background is maxing out the cpu or constantly writing to the hard drive

If the drops happened after upgrading the drivers, try downgrading to the prior driver version. If that fixes the problem, then there's an issue with the new drivers.

Check with Malwarebytes for malware, and is your OS installed and the games your a getting poor frames on installed on your SSD?

I tried malwarebytes, the games that lag are in both ssd and hdd

Use DDU to uninstall All drivers and AMD and Nvidia Software from your computer. http://www.wagnardmobile.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=164 It really does sound like a problem when switching graphics cards. I switched from a 750Ti to a 970 and it broke my Windows Install because I failed to do this.

usually you do it in safe mode

then restart the pc once you are sure it removed everything and install the driver
