Hello.
i got an MSI R9 390 recently but i have a very old setup.
I will upgrade the cpu and mobo soon and im thinking which cpus will not hold back the gpu.

I had an old asus motherboard with phenom ii x2 550 also i tried another older 6 core my brother had but i see they really bottleneck and the motherboard i had for the x6 is dead anyway.

So im thinking what should i get amd or intel?
Will i5 4460 or 4590 be better for my gpu than lets say amd 63xx or 83xx?
Obviously i know the 4690k is probably the best (not including i7s and such) but i dont want it to be too expensive since i preferred to get good gpu first.

I can afford 4460/4590 for sure, amd i could get 6300 6350 or an 83xx but im not too confident about the bottlenecks.
I love amd but i know most newer cards work better with intel.

Also i play fallout 4 at least i used to with the amd phenom ii x6 now with the 2core game cant play of course needs more cores.

4460 can handle fallout 4 and games like that? or 8320/50/70 will be better?
i play in 1440p where possible and tbh i dont like some games in 1080 regardless still having a 23 monitor.

I dont care if it's a locked processor or not my concern is the bottleneck. I just want it to play everything at least till we come to the point that amd releases zen or intel another beast or whatever.

Its pointless to tell you about budget cause in every country prices differ, so i ll tell you this: here where i live i can get 4460 with a mobo i see you recommend Asrock Pro 4 for about 315 euros or with the 4590 same mobo for about 350
and if i go with 6300 well all know is cheaper but that price difference doesnt matter cause i want it to be lot better than 6300. To put it simpler as i wrote everything down the prices (always according to where i live) for amd with 8320 or 8350 with a good motherboard like GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 will be about the ssame as i will pay for 4590.

I admit im a bit confused with all this so i' d like to know more certain what will be better. To be more clear as for budget meaning let's say i ll be able to make an intel 4460/4590 build or amd 6300/6350/8320 build.

Btw at first i was thinking about 8370 but it's a lot more expensive here than 8320 and 4690k lot more expensive than 4460.

Sorry for long text i just really need your advice:) . Thank you.

so doctor8ball 4460 is better choice than 4590? And if so it wont bottleneck the r9 390 for sure? I mean in most games of course , nobody can say for absolutely all games and be 100% sure.

assuming that you wont be overlcocking any mobo with an lga 1150 socket will work. generally any z97, h81, b85 motherboards will be fine

How about this:

4460 over the 4590 yes, super marginal neglible differences between the 2 and a whopping price difference.
It will NOT bottleneck that gpu at all. It's a dedicated quadcore so you will be fine.
