I've got a 5 year old system with a few upgraded parts, but I'm getting a few crashes and the only thing that's kinda stopped them (so far) is pulling out one of my sticks of ram. Unless the stick I've happened to pull out just happens to be the dodgy one, it appears to run more stable with dual channel instead of triple channel, but now I have 8gb wasted so would like it get it in again.
I was wondering if someone could say how I could underclock it to match the dual channel speed or less? At the end of the day, ram is very very rarely a bottleneck, so I can live with not having blazing fast speeds. Here's a pic of various bios settings I took last year in case I lost the overclock. It was overclocked by the shop, so I don't want to just fiddle around without knowing what to do I presume dram frequency is what I want, but what would I do with the bus voltage?
For the record, I tried un-overclocking my cpu, which helped with the crashes, but didn't stop them, so now it's on 3.8ghz (it was on 4 on the photos, I dropped the multiplier to 19 to lower heat a little). With only 2 sticks of ram, my computer can happily run prime95 with furmark and memtest, though it did crash once in shadow of mordor, but it's not something I can easily reproduce, so I've no idea if I've now pulled out a dodgy ram stick, or if it's just a lot more stable when not running at triple channel speeds.
