I verified that my mobo, Asus B85M-E, has a bios update for this specific CPU.

I updated my BIOS with that update.

Installed new CPU. Verified pins ok, all cables/wires well seated, etc.

Computer starts, but no signal to monitor. Does not post.

Verified vid card and other drivers up to date and all other parts are functional.

Used power supply calculator and my setup is about 100w less than what my power supply can handle.

Would love some suggestions for resolution, thanks!

Yes, either method will work.
Typically the better method is to short the pins for a BIOS reset.
If that fails, I would then remove the CMOS battery for some time, although this doesn't work for every motherboard due to the way the BIOS is stored in flash memory and not the CMOS chip.

I've changed CPUs in loads of boards and never had to reset the CMOS.
Often I've had to upgrade the BIOS to support the new CPU though.
Need more details of the CPUs you're changing and the BIOS version you've got.

The old one is an Intel Core i3 4330. The new one is an Intel Core i5 4460.

I updated using the BIOS update from Asus' own site. B85M-E BIOS 2306. It is the one they list specifically for the i5 4460.

Did a CMOS reset, however, only did so using the pin jumper. Did not remove battery. Should I do that method?
