i have 2 gb ram on my laptop core i3 hp 1000 and want to add another 4 gb ram with it.. is it a good idea?

Best idea when it comes to ram is to always have the same amount of memory and speed. Thats not saying it couldn't work but it would be better to just buy 4gb of ram now and replace, then later buy a second stick of the same ram bringing you up to 8gb.
