I'm using an i5 4460 on a Z97 A motherboard from Asus and I was wondering if anyone here knew how to overclock it. Yes, I know it's a locked processor but I also know that there are ways to overclock locked processors. I'm pretty sure my MoBo supports overclocking and that I wouldn't really need an aftermarket cooler (though I will be getting an H80i GT in a month or two) since the overclock won't be that high.

Solution
You can do a limited overclock by adjusting the turbo ratios, but its only 2 bins or 200 MHz, and the FSB may be able to raise 3 to 5 MHz, in other words not much. Maybe try Intel Extreme Tuning Utility to max the multipliers. Doing this myself with a haswell 4700mq laptop cpu though.

Intel Extreme Tuning Utility is a windows program. So use either it or the Bios, but not both. In my instance, I went from 34x one core, 33x two core, 32x three and four core to 36x one core, 35x two core, and 34x three and four core.
