Theoreticaly what would win 2 hybrid SAS drives that have 8gb of ssd 128mb of cach and run at 15k rpm in raid 0 vs 1 low end ssd

Solution

So...buy the drives.
Create some fancy charts.
Show us which is better.

Depends on the use.
I'd bet on the SSD.

A hybrid drive is only fast when getting data from that 8GB space.
The SSD is fast over the whole space.

That wouldn't be the first thing that comes to mind. The first thing that comes to mind would be durability as well as performance, assuming it's a quality SSD. Hard drives consume a small amount of power, I wouldn't consider them a burden of load on any PSU.

Two 15k drives running in strip 0 are most likely going to use much more power than a single SSD while getting very comparable performance. I like getting performance and efficiency thats why in "My Book" SSD still wins

Well, then, enjoy your 8W less of power consumption

theory you cant find 15k HD even if you wanted them

its going to be a heck of a lot more then 8w 15k hdd run over twice the speed of of 7200 and there 2 of them but like i said power and noise doesn't matter i just am interested to know

i stand corrected. but can you find 15k hybrid sas drives?

Substantially more than 8W considering Seagate is claiming an average of 8.6 watts per drive so 17.2 not to mention you are spinning drives continually. In an articular i found
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/840-pro-ssd-toggle-mode-2,3302-6.html

Seems that at idle SSD wins also with around 1W

So in conclusion SSDs win Period ;)

Since this is just a theoretical exercise, you can look around as well as I can.

Still very small. 8W was just a number I threw out of a hat since getting into the technicality is not even a necessity and is negligible in most situations when speaking of such small values of wattage.

Al Gore would be very disapointed lol

OK, whatever.

OP...since you asked the question, I toss this back to you. Postulate or link a performance graph that shows 2 x HDD of any type, in RAID 0, to be faster than a consumer grade SSD.
Price and drive size counts as well.

We think no. What say you?
Just theoretical, of course. Show your work.
