My friend currently has a pretty sad gaming rig set up right now. I don't know much about his rig except that he got it from a friend when he got a new computer a few years ago. He can run some games, but he wants a better build that he knows can play more up to date games. I have a little experience with the insides of a computer, and have some confidence in my technical ability, but I just wanted to know if this build is any good for a cheap gaming build.

Also, I was planning on trying to get some used parts for it to lower the cost even more. The friend he got it from said the motherboard sucked and not to bother with upgrading it, so I won't do that. Also, I was planning on using the HDD from his old computer, how hard would it be to use the OS that is already installed.
His PC right now:
4GB Ram
Intel Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz 2.34 GHz
ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series
Windows 10
283GB of usable HD space
So is this build much better that what he currently has now? Would it be able to play games decently for a few years? Would it be worth his time to put an extra 200 or so dollars and get something even better?
Thanks for your time!

I was planning on getting most of the parts used, which was going to cost around 320$ I guess I should have said that in my post. I don't know how risky buying used parts is but that build is probably still in his budget. I could probably get a used tower for that too right?

Parts you can buy used:
1) CPU
2) Maybe motherboard
3) RAM
4) GPU

Part NOT to buy used:
1) PSU
2) Sometimes motherboard (really depends on the seller, condition etc.)
3) Do not buy a case unless it is "like new" or at least has all the screws and stuff that came with it.
