I have a sony VAIO VPCEE41FX that broke it's harddrive falling off of a table. I got a new HDD and can do the first part of the windows installation where it unpacks everything, you restart and remove the media and finish the process on the HDD. My computer wont allow me to do the second part it says operating system not found. I popped the harddrive with my new installation into a desktop and it finished the install right away and worked perfectly. I then put that into the VAIO and it says operating sytem not found. I have reset the bios to default. I cannot put the bios into legacy mode for the HDD it does not give me the option. idk what to do its very frustratinganyone able to help?

Welcome, Lindburgercheese!

Unfortunately, the OS is tied to the motherboard you cannot transfer one OS installed on another computer to your laptop. You'd need a genuine installation for your notebook, which you need to install from the notebook itself. You can refer to MS support for assistance and guidelines on how to perform a clean install.
You can also try resetting BIOS to check if you'd be able to detect your new HDD properly afterwards.

Good luck!
