The cheap Graphics cards u can use with that power supply arnt worth it. They will perform the same as the onboard graphics. You need a 300w psu have a graphics card really, even the cheap $40 graphics cards need 300w psu.
Upgrade the power supply and graphics card, its very cheap and will improve gameplay a ton.

The cheapest graphics card I'd recommend is Gtx 750 ti, which requires a good quality 300w psu minimum
750 ti - $99.99

Best bang for the buck right now: Corsair 430w $19.99

I don't agree in this case. At best you're going to have to settle for something like a GeForce 730 but it is an improvement on the Intel HD2000 integrated graphics that comes with the i5-2500.
He will still have to run at low resolution and low details though, although you could try medium at low res. (By low resolution we're talking 720p or 1024x768 on your monitor)

GPU manufacturers recommend very conservative values for PSU minimum to allow for really cruddy PSUs that may be old and/or deliver less than theur label says.

A GTX 750ti is a 65W GPU. Your system will draw less than 100W. I would run a GTX 750ti on a 240W PSU. (I run an i5 and a GTX 970 on a 450W PSU and an overclocked i7 and an overclocked GTX 980 on a 550W PSU)

There are several version of the GTX 750ti, with different power needs. If only a low profile GPU will fit, all of them that I know of are lower power use.

Is your system a pre-built computer, and if so what make and model?
