Hi all,

In the near future I'm planning on building my first gaming PC myself. Mainly going to upgrade from an FX 6300 to the newest skylake K series. Also planning on having a GTX980Ti.

Not sure though on which power supply and cpu cooling I should use. PSU should be fully modular and cpu cooler I prefer watercooling.

Here's my pick, if you guys can give any advice on the PSU and cpu cooling?

CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K Boxed -> going to overclock this bad boy
CPU COOLER: Air: Cryorig H7 / Watercooled: Corsair Hydro H100i GTX
MOBO: ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING
GPU: Asus STRIX-GTX980TI-DC3OC-6GD5-GAMING
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB
HDD: Seagate Desktop HDD ST1000DM003, 1TB
CASE: Fractal Design Define R5 BLACK
PSU: Corsair RM750x or Seasonic X-650W

Thx!

You need a 650W PSU at the least, or 750W for some CPU and GPU overclocking headroom as well. Any Seasonic or XFX is fine, or EVGA's B2 / G2 / P2 series'. Corsair's RM, RMi, HXi and AXi are overpriced for what they are. I myself have got an EVGA 550W G2; the crème de la crème of PSUs. Top notch quality, made by Super Flower, benchmarking setting performance and a 10 year warranty (This has been reduced to 7 years for the 550 and 650W models, but the 750W still has a 10 year warranty). Definitely the PSU to get if you can afford it.

Also, if going watercooled the NZXT X61 Kraken...

Also, if going watercooled the NZXT X61 Kraken performs better than the H100i GTX while being quieter. It's one of the best AiO watercoolers currently available.

EDIT: The EVGA GS Series is also fine.

Would you recommend EVGA GS series aswell? They seem to be a little less pricey (in Belgium though). That way I could compensate the money giving more on the X61 which is a little bit more expensive than the H100i GTX.

Hope the Kraken isn't going to be a tough one with my DEFINE R5.

GS is fine. It's made by Seasonic and only slightly behind in terms of quality. I forgot to mention it in my original post, sorry. 5 year warranty, which is still a very long time. The Kraken should fit in the R5 with no problems:

No problem! Glad to help :). Post back here or start a new thread if you have any further questions or problems. Also, if you're going with the 650W G2 keep in mind that you may not be able to overclock both the GPU and the CPU to their full potential without running into power constraints. A mild GPU and CPU OC should be fine though.
