Looking for solid info regarding PCIE extensions and using them with an ASUS X99 Deluxe USB 3.1 Motherboard! I'm building scratch/custom with a Thermaltake CoreP5. I want to be able to
swing my cards 90 degrees and down. The case comes with an inferior PCIE extension that all the forums says is crap and doesn't work! I referenced this website but it is out dated from 2007. http://www.overclock.net/t/1427731/pci-express-extender-cables-benchmarked
The above thread implies (at the bottom in remarks) using a dual config with un-shielded cables not working because of interference. I'm not sure if the information is current with new technologies and newer cards. Also if they do work should I get powered? which brand is actually best?

I'm using two
ASUS GeForce GTX 980 Ti STRIX-GTX980TI-DC3OC-6GD5-GAMING 6GB 384-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card and an ASUS X99 Deluxe motherboard.

However I do see that 3m makes a high end shielded cable

It comes in two lengths. Will this work without any loss/interference in a SLI config?

I know this doesn't directly answer your question but from watching some of Linus' builds on YouTube he mentioned that you can string several PCI-E extensions together without an loss in performance. I think that's up to like 3 or 4 past that you might see issues and since you are probably only using one for each card and are getting shielded cables I wouldn't worry too much.
