Hey there!
I'm trying to use a Radeon HD 5750 card with my PC but the computer won't boot with it installed I get some beeps (which I think are related to video card failure or something) even though the card runs perfectly on my other PC (G1 Sniper A88X)

Specs of the PC that won't boot:
Gigabyte GA-P75-D3 (BIOS Version F11)
Intel Core i3-2120
Team DARK DDR3 1600Mhz 2*4GB
Thermaltake 450w PSU

I also know the problem isn't with the PCI-E slot because my GTX 550Ti runs perfectly on it

I've read countless threads on the matter and none of the solutions work for me
I've tried disabling Secure Boot and enabling CSM Support(can't even disable it if I wanted to) and booting with one stick of RAM and still it won't boot

Solution
you know maybe the board ? funny it was listed at newegg fo a short time and then out of stock [looking at the reviews dates less then a year] then that 5750 is a card from 2009 so also the boards bios may not support it and only for newer card series ?? one guy reviewer at egg has a 6770 in his ? the 550ti was from around 2011 ? the 5750 maybe too old and not supported by the board bios ??

things can be funny that way

Which OS are you using? Also, you had the 550ti and are now going to the 5750, correct? Have you made any software changes yet or just unplugging one card and then plugging in the other with out any driver prep?

EDIT: Would also be good to know what your actual beep code is. Two choices are 'long' and 'short', albeit in different patters. Can you describe the long/short of it (ex: two shorts, a long, then short).

Windows likely installed a display driver (if you didn't) somewhere along the way during an update, so would start by removing any display device drivers for the Nvidia card, shut down, unplug, then switch, and try again.

You may need to, after the Radeon GPU is installed, use the integrated video from your CPU to load into windows and install the latest Crimson drivers. Shut down again, then switch to the PCIe card and try powering on again.

Beyond that, checking your BIOS to ensure it is knows, after the switch, that it needs to continue using the PCIe card and not integrated may be necessary.

I know for a fact there aren't any drivers installed because I just installed the OS
The computer doesn't even get to that point it just gives me 1 long beep and then 3 short ones and the screen is black
The mobo doesn't support integrated graphics at all

WHAT??!!
Is that even possible?
It works on my G1 Sniper A88X and that's a lot newer than my other mobo

could be ? what else can you determine ? you know the card is fine just not on that board but the NVidia works ?? kinda points that way ?? the a88x may get far better support all around and not close to the same bios support cause its a more mainstream board/ better board /.poplar board ?? and get full attention ??

like I said these things can be funny at times and why the board did not last on the market and pulled / out of stock quickly ??

just may not have support of too old of card ?? anyway that's my guess it beeping acts like its not recognized as a supported card and cant initialize it ..

beep beep beep error error error its a no go

I think its odd myself but ....

There are 2 types of BIOS EUFI, and older AHCI. Find out which type your MB has, then see if your video card is compatible with that. There isn't any cutoff date for this that I know of. Some new video cards support the newer, some the older, and a few have dual BIOS for both. Normal GPU installation is to remove old drivers, install new card, start in safe mode and install new drivers. But check BIOS compatibility.

In the BIOS there's an option (forgot its name) that I can set to:
- UEFI and Legact
- Legacy only
- UEFI only
- Legacy first
- UEFI first

Is that what you mean?

GA-P75-D3 don't give that option according to the manual I looked at but he said the card worked on the a88x and he did not say he had to change the bios on that to do so ???

if you do got them settings then set it to - Legacy only - and test it out and see ?? thing is like I said did you do this on the a88x to make the card work ??

all you can do is give it a shot cause anything over it just fails to work again is a plus and a good deal

I tried booting with Legacy only and it didn't work
I didn't change anything in the BIOS of the A88X to make it work

well that's how I figure - that lesser short life board just don't have ths bios support as the better poplar a88x witch they gave more attention to ,,

the card works on the a88x just plug and play with out you changing anything in its bios so you know the card if fine

you know the p75 d3 slot and all work fine with the NVidia card [that's a newer card ] so you know its not hardware issue with that board

so its looking like its got to be the bios its not recognized as a supported card and cant initialize it ..

just like at one time the new gtx 900 cards would not work on dell xps 8700 and a few z68 chipset boards until dell and board manufactures released a new bios that supported them but your see this in reverse you got a newer board that don't recognize the older card

it can also be the cards v-bios as well that I said above about the 900 cards some tried evga cards and failed to display and traded it for the msi card and worked cause evga's cards v-bios may not of been as complete as msi at the time [first release]

all it takes is that one little microcode that's not in there for a series of hardware and each bios update for the motherboard has improvements that adds compatibility but its just that the p75-d3 looks to fall a little short ??

anyway now you tried to change uefi to legacy and all still a no go the bios support is where I see it cause you know the card worked -0- issue on the uefi bios of the a88x ??

good luck
