So I recently purchased a gtx 970 factory OC'd and I replaced it with my old 750 ti i have a kentek 680watt psu and i suspect that it is the culprit in the reason why my pc freezes up but i am unsure thats why i am asking you guys my specs are

intel core i5 3570 @3.4ghz
ECS H77H2-M3(1.0) Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
12gb ram
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

I really hope it is just something as simple as either my psu not being powerful enough or conflicting drivers with my old 750ti but i havent the first clue how to get rid of them

Solution
i would get a new PSU regardless. period. get a good quality PSU unless you dont value your components. not trying to be a dangus, but a good quality PSU is the key to a good machine

1.

Try uninstalling all display drivers completely
Then install the latest NVIDIA Driver

2. If this doesnt work try resetting the BIOS

3.Its possible that the PSU may be unstable causing freezes, better to check it with another card

4. Last if all else i listed doesnt work then it's possible the Card is faulty

just because a different card works in with games doesnt necessarily mean its not a problem with your power supply. although i would definitely guess its your power supply. kentek doesnt get good marks and theyre cheap units. just because its labeled a 680watt psu doesnt mean it can handle a high end card

well i am leaning towards it being the psu cause the 970 while being factory OC'd still needs at least 28a on the 12v rail my psu only has 22a on the 12v rail
