So I read this: http://wccftech.com/skylake-does-not-support-ddr3-damage-ddr3l-only/

It says if I run anything higher than 1.35v on my DDR3 ram with my Skylake CPU then I'll end up damaging it. I managed to go into BiOS and set it from 1.485 to about 1.42 but it's still not at 1.35

I tried setting it to 1.35 but it failed. I tried changing XMP and a few timing settings from some websites but that also failed. Is there anyone who knows how to 'downclock(?)' my 16GB Viper-X Patriot 16GB 1600Mhz RAM to run at 1.35v instead of it's 1.485v on a B150 Asus mobo? The manual doesn't explain anything and I can't find anything online. I need to change this ASAP. I don't want to damage my new CPU.

Solution
1.5 will be perfectly fine.....and you won't damage the CPU, Intel CPUs have a lot of leeway, i.e. they said 1333 with 1.5 for SB, 1600 with 1.5 for IB, 1600 1.5 Haswell and refresh. Think I've done over 150 client builds going back to SB and over 90% are running 1.65 DRAM. Additionally Intel publishes lists of compatible/certified DRAM for these at 1.65. Skylake is no different

If I show you a picture of my BiOS could you tell me which settings to mess with?

Because I am advising against what you are trying to do.
DDR3l is skylake compatible, but not really a smart idea.
You went with a DDR4 platform, I recommend you use it.

Thanks, I'll try that out.

But Intel said themselves that this DDR3 could cause damage to the CPU over prolonged use. I don't think they'd say something like that for the hell of it.

Sure they would and do. As mentioned the same was said of IB (i.e. 2xxx series of CPUs) with 1.5 DRAM. My 2500K ran (and is still running (sold to a client) with 32GB of 2133 at 1.65, prior to the 2133 (mid/late 2011) it ran 1866 1.65 from the release in early 2011) as are many other SB rigs, and IB rigs and Haswell, etc) Intel advertises to base spec on a CPU and corresponding spec for the base DRAM. Take a look at their own chart and voltages for DDR3, keeping in mind thy say 1600 or Haswell and 1.5

In DDR4 (rated 1.2) the bulk are 1.35 sets
