getting random freezes that last anywhere from 5sec to 20sec. no BSOD or complete freezes that require restart.

pc brand new. core components:
i7-6700k, oc'd to 4.4 and vcore at 1.28 max at 1.31
AMD R9 390 oc'd to 1050clockspeed, 6050memclock
Gigabyte Z170XP-SLI, bios updated
ADATA XPG Z1 DDR4 2800mhz (2x8GB)
Corsair H55 w/ Fractal high-performance fan
Thermaltake 750w PCBUS Smart

I can run Prime95 for a full day with no errors, but just randomly clicking around desktop, copying and pasting files, opening Word, Word Perfect, and Adobe Pro docs will cause seemingly random "hangs". If I cease activity, not touch buttons, it will correct itself after 5-20 seconds. Played Skyrim Legendary Edition for hours today without a hiccup. I have read a few things that indicate it could be a DDR4 issue. The only thing I did was turn on XMP to the 2800mhz Profile, and nothing else. I guess the default for board is 2133. Should I manually increase the DRAM voltage? And if so, what increments? Sorry not at home pc right now, so I cant remember what voltage is currently, only that I didnt change those default setting after turning on XMP. Very concerned because this is a brand new build and if I need to RMA anything at all I need to do it as soon as I identify the culprit.

Solution
Do you have the latest BIOS and mobo drivers from the mobo website - on a new platform they will be constantly adding fixes for DRAM and stability issues. What came with the mobo was prob out of date before you even got it.
well to pinpoint the cause of the problem you should better return to stock settings. with the cpu / gpu at deault speed and the xmp ram profile enabled if the freezes continue, then you have a ram issue.so run a memtest for each stick individually to verify. if you dont, the you may still have an unstable o/c. what cpu temps do you have? h55 isnt that good for such cpu. also ensure your gpu o/c stability by conducting a furmark / occt test.

yup, you were correct sir. i was getting frustrated as heck. turns out it wasnt the dram. it was the Intel SATA compatibility with the SSD. something to do with the ACHI power settings. now that i have manually installed the newest BIOS version, i am stable as can be. got it done a few days ago, just never got around to coming back to tom's. thanks man.
