Hi
i am really confused about selecting between these CPU
XEON - E5-2697 v3 or CORE i7 - 5960x
and with them i will be teaming up with 980Ti x2
Primary activities_ 3D programs, serious Gaming and Rendering
Common activities_ editing, multimedia (movies) and basic computing
so which one should i pick, which model would u recommend on both CPUs

Thanks in advance

for gaming..... Intel I5 type. For 3d programs (cad) editing, compressing videos, etc, however, more like the xeon. You might want to look up benchmarks of the programs you are using to compare cpu power. See which one benefits you the most. Or if the time difference makes any difference.

Thank u u for ans
i think i will go for core as it has little limitation than xeon nd i will be using little bit of everything,
which do u think is best in core i7 for gaming, 3D and rendering

There's no such comparision

i7 processors are targeted to normal users that demand performance but want to spend less money.

Xeon processors are quite better for servers but sometimes don't perform pretty well when it comes to games.

It depends on what you consider more important

If your work requires reliability and lots of cores get the Xeon

If productivity is casual a core i5 is a beast for games, unlees you SLI or Crossfire with 3+ cards

Even, I would rather pick the E5 2687W because it's cheapper than the xeon you selected and still offers more single core performance because you should know that games prefer higher clock speeds over stupid amounts of cores.

And for productivity it mustn't be that far from the 14 core xeon

The 6950X is by far the best CPU for any sort of content creation software

Nevertheless it is simply too much money, a 6800K OC'd might cost $550 and offer similar performance in all regards
