SSD and HDD

So If I buy a laptop with 8gb SSD and 1TB HDD, will the stuff on the HDD run slower than the stuff stored on the SSD? Or Is the SSD and HDD combine and will run fast because SSD + HDD = Fast but HDD + HDD = Slow and SSD + SSD = Faster.

Im confused. is 8gb ssd enough?

The 8gb ssd works as cache drive for the bigger slower hdd. It works similarly to a hybrid drive. It will read files faster that your computer consistently accesses.

The 8gb drive will probably just store your operating system, so your computer will boot up and run os very fast, the rest of your stuff will be accessible at the rate of the HDD
The stuff on the HDD will run slower than the stuff stored on the SSD

So if I want vmware to run fast, what do I do? Put the vmware file in an ssd?

Also, is it just me or is window 10 slower than window 7?

You can't. The ssd and hdd will be in raid so the system will treat both drives as one.

Windows 10 works perfect for me. It doesn't appear any slower or faster than 8.1.

I just don't understand how an 8gb ssd card is even enough. I will need to run vmware mostly and I need it to run faster because sometimes I hit 100% disk drive because its heavy.

It wont be hard on that laptop. Removing the drive ad simple as unscrewing back panel, removing it, unscrewing hdd caddie and installing new ssd.
