MSI Z170A Krait Audio issue

Alright so I bought a Z170A Krait motherboard, installed it just fine, but I'm having problems with audio.

It seems that installing audio-related drivers will cause my onboard audio to stop being detected. The Realtek drivers that came with the board caused this issue as did AMD's HDMI audio driver. The latest audio drivers from MSI's website will not install. The installation crashes giving me error 0x000000FF.

Anyone got any ideas on what could be causing this? Help would be greatly appreciated.

Solution
Honestly it could just be a bad board. You can try to return it and see what happens with the next one. There is no point struggling with a broken motherboard

Yeah I'd rather try to be sure what the problem is before having to uninstall and RMA a motherboard.
