Hello, I wanted to know if a Corsair H80i GT could cool the i7 5960X properly.

Will i be able to do some slight overclocking?

Thanks in advance

212 Evo? Are you kidding me? Seriously?

What about the Thermaltake Frio Extreme? Would that cool better?

The Frio is slightly better than an EVO or H7, but yes either of the two will do quite nicely up to about 4.5-4.6, I ran a number of those (212 EVO, the H7 is newer) on Sandy Bridge (my 2500K at 4.8 for example (on which it's still running 5 years later), IB (3570K at 4.7, still running) as well about 75 client builds), same with Haswell, worked well up to about 4.6. It takes about a H100 to top either the EVO or the H7

I just sail to see how you can spend that much for a cpu and skimp on the cooler, unless of course, you have space constraints. Not trying to talk down on you, just wanting to make sure you are thinking everything through.

Dude, here in my country they barely sell any computer hardware, the best cooler they have right now is the corsair h80i

Fail, think a typo ;) Some people think you need to spend a ton of money on things, it's all about design and efficacy - there are many AIO water coolers that basically suck next to a good air cooler, and there are good inexpensive air cooler that will out cool many of the expensive ones

My thoughs are that in depends of where you want the heat to go, with a watercooler you cat throw the heat out of the case so you don't warm the other components, air cool are great too, but you have to add more fans to the case to get a great airflow, more dust inside of the case, the components, etc. Just that, it depends of what you like.

The object is indeed to get the heat out of the case and air cooler do the same, regardless you still need case fans and actually using the fans with a water cooler pushing the air over the rad from in the case can be cut cooling, better to have cooler air from outside the case being pushed over the RAD

Yep, but anyways, it depends of the person. But anyways, the water coolers, gives you a like 10% lower temps under heavy loads, and they are most of the time with a constant fan speed. Custom waters are more customizables in some ways, like colors, more fans, if you don't have too much space in your case, etc.; they are used depending on the situation, WC are usually more compact with a slightly better performance under heavy loads.

I know they are custombizable too, so don't worry. What I'm trying to say is that it depends on what you want and what you need, just that.

yep, cheap water coolers are crappy, but a good one can give you better performance.
PS: My english is ok? Just want to know.

Guess where I live.

HInt: It's in NA and we're drug experts.

Oh, well, I tend to think of Mexico more as the middle 'man' when it comes to drugs, what with the heavier stuff coming from SA and then using Mexico as a staging area to send it to points north. Have seen a few 'mule' trains coming through in southern AZ
