Hi.what do you guys think of using copper grease as a thermal compound?
would it be healthy for the CPU?
may i ask what metal the top of the cpu is made from?

i intend to apply copper grease to my laptop cpu (i5) to give it a go.

yea, seems it's kind of OK-ish. Here's an old thread that despite the negative title also discuss that it may be "OK".

However the point made that unless you have some copper grease lying around already, a small tube of Arctic Silver isn't all that expensive.

So not that most laptops I disassembled use thermal pads that provide sticking power. There isn't the same elaborate mounting mechanism as on desktop motherboards.
