Xbox 360 Controller help!!!

Hi! I am having issues with an xbox 360 controller. I am using it for windows, and am currently running windows 8.1. I have the drivers installed, and have reinstalled them. Neither of my controllers are working on any of the USB ports. I have run joy.cpl and found that the controllers are turned on, but no button pressing is being communicated. This is not an issue with the controllers, as I have tried more than one, and this problem persists with all of them. Any Help???

Are you trying to use it with a game that recognizes it by default? Some games will recognize the controller when you plug it in while others you'll have to use JoyToKey to play with it. Also when you go to joy.cpl, did you check to see if it was recognizing button presses? To check click the controller and click properties and when you press a button, one of the red numbers should light up.

No, the red does not show on either controller.
