I'm getting this msg on http://pcpartpicker.com/p/vfMsqs . This is my first build, and I'm this msg is extremely nervewracking. I know this questioon has been asked before, - but none of the answers apply to all scenarios, and if you can't give me an answer like that it's OK! I'm just really wondering if my parts are safe from the dangerous, scary message. Thanks :))

Solution
There is no DEFINITIVE way to know. Even the PCB version of the motherboard matters when checking compatibility. The v3.0 motherboard requires F6 BIOS while the v3.1 motherboard requires F7 BIOS.

Lets assume we won't know which revision of the board you will get if you buy new today...

With the v3.1 motherboard, the F7 BIOS is the FIRST one shown on the manufacturer page. That should mean it was the first available BIOS so EVERY v3.1 motherboard would support the 860K.
With the v3.0 motherboard the F6 isn't the first available BIOS so it is POSSIBLE you might not be supported. But, the F6 BIOS was released in May 2014. So what is the probability of a motherboard that has been sitting somewhere for almost 2 years prior to...

Solution
No entirely safe with that board.

For the 860k to be safe out if the box I'd normally recommend the asrock 88 pro 3 or Asus a68hm-plus.

However the build is unbalanced , an 860k with a 390 isn't a great pairing & the evga 500w is not a PSU I'd use with a 300w peak card.

Consider this instead or maybe an i5 paired with a 380.

With the 88r you also need to budget for a front 120mm intake fan, I'd personally go for the n200 instead

Thanks sooo much, I'm incredibly pleased with your response. *Don't tell anyone, but if I could go back I would make you the best solution* I've pretty much modeled mine after your suggestions and I'm going to see if I can build/edit it slightly.
Thanks once more, madmatt30!
