Firmware is up to date, magician and crystal disk mark give roughly 317 seq read and 400 seq write.

It's advertised to go 540 read and 520 write.

Any ideas?

Not sure if this is relevant but computer specs:

CPU: Fx 8320
Mobo: 990FXA-UD3
Ram: 8 GB
GPU: Gtx 970
OS: Windows 10

It is using a 6 gbps sata cable

Solution

other then getting an intel system? no.
but you could check both your bios and motherboard chipset for the latest driver, but as always there a risk when you upgrade those, so backup your data.

Okay it's fixed. AHCI needed turned on *face palm* sorry.

542 read and 501 write.

But for the record, you were right. The IOPS is only 50-60k read and write. But oh well. Darn you samsung.
