Grid 2 opens logo, black screen, crashes.

I have been having problems with GRID 2 lately. The weirdest thing is that I've been playing this game for a few weeks and it just crashed last night and would not even open (all I got was a logo and then it shut down).

I looked around on google and the most common problem seemed to be verifying the integrity of the game in steam, which I did. The second most common was going into the hardware settings and editing some things. I did notice it was trying to pull 8 cores when in fact I do have 4 so I changed that along with the resolution from 5760x1080 to my current one (do not know how it was changed) which is 2560x1440. Also changed refresh rate.

Went to open the game again and it did the same thing, logo, black screen, crash, and it would automatically try to start up again only to have the same result. The only way I could stop it from this cycle was by Alt-F4.

My specs in my computer are as follows:
MOBO: Asus Z97 Sabertooth Mark 2
CPU: i7 4690K
GPU: GTX 980Ti
16 GB RAM

I haven't changed anything in my PC recently so I am very baffled as to why it all of the sudden stopped working. Any and all help is appreciated in advance, thank you.

FYI, the i7-4690K has 8 logical cores thanks to hyperthreading. You can totally use all 8, which may actually be better than using 4 if it defaults to the first 4 since you'd actually want to use 0,2,4,6 not 0,1,2,3 as that's the first two with HT.

Can you do a Windows restore to a time before it crashed? You may need to reinstall the game. If it's only this game then this is the game's problem not your hardware, though it could be your OS install is messed up. If it's every game then I'd start to worry about temperatures or drivers.
