Hey

Built first pc a while back and am now looking to upgrade. System specs below but i have an fx 8350 and do alot of gaming. With around $500 should i get a new gpu such as a gtx 970 or upgrade mobo and cpu to intel such as an intel i5 6400? Which would truely yeild the best results for gaming? if upgrading cpu id like to switch to intel seeings am3+ is kind of dieing (at least thats what people say).

System Spec:

-AMD fx 8350
-asus strix gtx 960 2gb
-m5a97 r2
-corsair cx600m psu
-wd blue 1t hdd
-corsair h55 liquid cooler
-patriot sig 8gb ram (2 x 4gb) ddr3 1600mhz

Regards

Upgrade your CPU and mobo, both Fallout and the Witcher are CPU intensive, I would go with a 6500 at least though, the 6400 can only run at 3.3 ghz max

Really id say your system looks fine. Are you running into issues/slowness? I say that because you've already got an 8core@4ghz and upgrading from a gtx 960 to 970 won't be a huge jump. Maybe an ssd? Or 16gb ram instead of 8?

I often like to play games such as tf2 and CSGO casually but i also spend alot of time on newer games such as fallout 4 and the wither 3.

Thanks for the reply. Probably gonna upgrade cpu but....is there a mobo you would recommend? Also when i say fallout 4 and The Witcher 3 i mean all of the latest titles. I play alot of bf4 and games such as far cry 4 and just cause 3. Does this alter anything in terms of cpu vs gpu?

Thanks for taking the time to reply so far really appreciate it. :)

Unless you plan on overclocking or running an SLI setup, a b170 or h170 will serve you just fine. Honestly the Witcher and Fallout are the most taxing games out right now, and if you want a better experience playing either of those then I would go with a better CPU
