How if I have 2 hard drives in one CPU?

Hi guys, i just recently wanted to buy one new extra hard drive for my PC.
And what I've been thinking is, if I just add the extra drive, what will happen next?
Is it just going to merge to the old one, or I have to install the OS like I have only one hard drive?
Thanks

Multiple drives are very common.
They each get a different drive letter.

No, they don't 'merge'.
No, you do not have to install the OS on each.
What do you mean. If you want to use a second hard drive as backup drive or just as a place for storage, just plug it in with SATA cable to mobo and PSU and then it will work as storage. I do not see any problem.

There is literally no correlation of HDD with CPU whatsoever.

Forever Oleg is correct. When you put the new HDD in (assuming you leave the old drive where it is) when you boot windows it should recognize the drive and give it a new letter such as D or F. You may need to go into the drive partition options in Windows to get the full space of the drive. If you're thinking of using the new drive instead of your old one you'll want to clone the drive first so you don't lose any of your files. Otherwise yeah, plug it in to an available SATA port and you're good to go.
