hi tom's hardware... anyone having issues with rise of the tomb raider too? i feel like the game was really eating too much of vram.. changing settings differently doesn;t solve some fps drops.. its not that optimize well on amd card.. im using msi r9 290 and yet getting fps drops and slight stutter on some occasions.. the first tomb raider as you can see on the picture has all settings maxed out except anti aliasing and its very smooth..

any temporary fix or tweaks for it? thnks much.. i already lowered the resolution to 1600x900 which is bit bummer since im using r9 290.. witcher 3, gta v and such titles doesn't give this much headache,,, hehehe

as you can see on the picture.. its the settings difference between TOMB RAIDER vs ROTTR... such difference

Solution
1) The game just got a patch, so not sure if you got that or not yet.

2) It's not clear how much stutter or drop issues you have, but here's some other advice:

a) Use Dynamic VSYNC with RadeonPro (for 60Hz monitor will turn VSYNC ON or OFF automatically depending on if you can hit 60FPS or not). For 144Hz monitors you may want to try the "Half" method to synch to 72FPS.

I tweak things so that I stay at the target at least 90% of the time (you know if you drop below because you get screen tearing).

*You do NOT want to use normal VSYNC if you can't achieve the target because that causes stuttering (mixed frame times).

b) DROP game settings really low just to test...

this is my setup,

msi r9 290
4690k
8gbram

yah i heard a lot of people say that too. fps drops on either cards... is it not optimize well??? coz the previous tomb raider is a great port.. did they port this too pc way too fast? since they just release the game on xbox one november last year and said it was a time exclkusive... so maybe the port was made with little time???

is there any fix or workaround for this fps drops?

I thought that maybe the game has memory leaked issues like the previous DENUVO game i had with Dragon age inquisition. that game gave me lot of memory leaks, meaning every time i play, if I'm about to play inquisition again, the game will lag so much that it feels like your'e running it with an old gpu.

b) DROP game settings really low just to test smoothness. If it's smooth on lowest settings then it's a matter of finding the optimal balance.

3) Difference to old game?
Well, yes but keep in mind the new game adds a lot of visual improvements. So it's highest looks better than the original games highest settings.
