I have already successfully built one gaming PC and had no problems installing WIndows through the CD drive but on this new build I keep trying to install Windows from the CD and it keeps telling me the same thing: Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key Why does it keep doing this, I've tried switching back and forth from IDE to AHCI but it still isn't doing anything... this is the build http://

yes I have changed it to boot straight from the CD drive with Windows 7 disc in it and it keeps giving me the same error message

so maybe the brand new disk drive i just got could be bad already? should i try the one from my old PC? and i'm not sure if it's the disk or not

I'm not sure either, why I'm asking. drive could, most likely not, be dead. those would be the only other options. if the system is not seeing the disk, then it can't boot from it. it's worth a try using the old, you know that one works right?
in the bios is the sata set to ahci or ide/compatibility mode?

Why don't to use a usb just make the usb bootable to install any windows you want just change the boot setting to usb or flash drive .

steps to make a bootable usb

windows + R and type "CMD"

1-diskpart

2-list disk

3-select disk 1 ,2, 3 (any just see the storage first to make sure its right usb)

4-clean

5-create partition primary

6-active

7-assign

then format will pop up just format it and put windows in it.

I do have Windows 7 Ultimate ISO already installed onto a 3 TB external hard drive I don't know if that helps any but the new PC doesn't read the external hard drive when I try to boot it up. I might just say fuck it and get a new copy of windows tomorrow lol
